Man charged with murder in stabbing death of teen found near railroad tracks

HOUSTON – Police arrested a man in connection with the stabbing death of a teen in southeast Houston, according to the victim's mother.

Ryan Robert, 16, was stabbed multiple times, his body found near the 610 overpass off Holmes Road last month.

Edward O’Neal, 18, believed to be Robert's best friend, was taken into custody Wednesday and is in jail. He has admitted his role in the killing. O'Neal admitted to stabbing Robert, according to police.

O'Neal did not appear in court Thursday because of a medical issue, sources said.

O'Neal's bond was set at $50,000.

Several neighbors have said Robert and O'Neal practiced satanic rituals. Robert's mother said that is untrue.

"It was not a satanic ritual. He killed my child out of pure anger," Christina Roberts said.

Police have not yet released a motive for the slaying.
