Arrest made after men hold up traffic to play basketball in middle of road

HOUSTON – An arrest has been made after two men were caught on video playing basketball in a busy Houston intersection.

Roland Zepeda, 28, was taken into custody Monday for warrants out of Ft. Bend County, police said. The other man seen in the video, Edward Joseph Gonzales, 25, is still on the run.

Zepeda was taken to the City of Houston jail and charged with evading arrest or detention. No bond was set in that case.

He was also charged with a larceny warrant out of Ft. Bend County and driving under the influence in Travis County. Bonds were set at $30,000 and $10,000, respectively.
Police are still investigating the charge of obstructing a highway. No charges have been filed.

Zepeda and Gonzales were caught on camera shooting hoops with a children's basketball goal at Gulf Freeway and Broadway Avenue. The video has gone viral, according to the Houston Police Department.

Facebook user Monsee Cortes posted the video on June 1 with the caption, "Only in Houston."

While many people joked about the video, others did not appreciate it.

"This (expletive) is not funny," Mavm Vega said.

"Someone call the police!" Kiersten Jay Raymond said.

The person recording the video panned over to show traffic. Drivers were honking their horns and driving around the basketball game.
