Armored truck security guard shot during robbery outside Target

Reward up to $5,000 offered

HOUSTON – An armored truck security guard was shot in the leg during a robbery attempt in a Target parking lot in southwest Houston.

The Dunbar messenger got out of the truck around 3:25 p.m. Saturday to conduct business at the Target in the 8500 block of South Main while the driver waited inside.

A man approached the messenger, knocked him down, shot him and grabbed a bag without saying anything, police said. The man got into a four-door sedan that was waiting nearby with any unidentified driver and they fled, investigators said.

There is no confirmation whether money was stolen.

The alleged robber is described as a thin black man, around 5 feet 9 inches tall weighing 160 pounds. He was wearing a red hoodie over his head.

Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the charging or arrest of the man. Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the man is asked to contact the Houston FBI Office at 713-936-7638 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS. All tipsters remain anonymous.
