Apartment fire displaces more than 3 dozen in northwest Harris County

2-alarm fire rips through apartment complex

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – More than three dozen people have been displaced after a fire ripped through an apartment complex in northwest Harris County.

Firefighters responded around 3 a.m. Saturday to the Village Apartments at Loch Katrine in the 16500 block of Loch Katrine near Highway 6.

When crews arrived they found heavy smoke and flames coming from the second floor of the brick apartment building.

Residents were evacuated and fire crews fought the fire from the outside of the building, then went inside.

Firefighters said the building contained 16 units and all of them were damaged, some completely destroyed.

Red Cross was called to help those residents who were displaced.

Three firefighters were treated for minor injuries at the scene; including dehydration and a shoulder injury. None of those firefighters were taken to the hospital.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
