Abandoned building collapses in downtown Houston

HOUSTON – An abandoned building collapsed Thursday in downtown Houston.

The incident was reported about 6:50 a.m. at the corner of Congress and Bastrop streets.

Twisted metal and splintered planks could be seen in the rubble. Bricks tumbled into the street in front of the building. Part of the street in front of the building was closed to traffic.

Officials at the scene said the building didn’t have a roof on it, and they do not believe anyone was inside at the time of the collapse.

No injuries were reported.
