HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Nanett Winfield said she got the call this morning that her mother and grandparents were found dead in the backyard of their Cypress home.
She has now learned that her grandfather, 90-year-old Arthur Stokely, shot his 92-year-old wife, Elizabeth, and their daughter, 74-year-old Nanett Summerlin-Winfield, then turned the gun on himself.
Nanett's mother - who shared her same name - moved in with her parents to take care of them as they aged.
She says her grandfather had dementia and was known to get angry.
It had gotten so bad that at one point, her mom moved out, but recently moved back in.
"I said, 'How are things with Papa?' and she said, 'Oh, it's great, we're doing fine,' She was happy," she said. "He was a little bit more sick than we thought. You don't know what goes on in people's lives. I did not know this was going to happen to my mom."
