3 Cy-Fair ISD schools no longer in secure mode

HOUSTON – Secure mode has been lifted at three schools in northwest Houston after deputies set up a perimeter in the area.

Deputies established a perimeter Monday in an area inside Cy-Fair Independent School District. Authorities said a homeowner caught a burglar inside their home. The burglar fled the residence.

Deputies said the burglar has not been caught, but the perimeter has been removed.

The schools in secure mode included Postma Elementary, Rennell Elementary and Anthony Middle schools.

Secure mode protocol is not the same as lockdown.

During secure mode, administrators lock all school doors and no one is allowed to leave the building until authorities confirm the area is safe.
