Witnesses told deputies the man ran to a nearby Shell gas station and got into a black Chevrolet Camaro, which had been parked at a gas pump.

When an officer arrived at the gas station, he parked behind the Camaro and ordered the man to get out of the car. The man then drove away, hitting a van that had been parked at another gas pump. He then drove south on Smilingwood, attempting to avoid deputies.

The man lost control of his vehicle and struck a curb and crashed into a fence, deputies said. He was then taken into custody by deputies.
