2 painters injured in explosion in home near Tomball

TOMBALL, Texas – Two painters were injured Thursday in an explosion in a northwest Harris County house, according to authorities.

The explosion was reported around 2 p.m. in the 19500 block of Stone Lake Drive.

One painter had severe burns and was taken to the hospital via helicopter. Authorities said they think he will survive, but did not say what condition he was in. The other painter's burns were not as severe and he was taken to a hospital via ambulance.

Investigators believe thick fumes build up in side the house and sparked when the air compressor turned on.

The Rose Hill Fire Department responded and found two men on the ground in front of the house.

Investigators are not sure if the men were able to get out of the house, or if they were blown out of the house.

The homeowner was not home at the time of the explosion.
