HOUSTON – The Houston police bomb squad safely removed ammunition and guns from a house at Richelieu Lane and Oak Forest Drive Friday afternoon.
Hours earlier, ammunition exploded in the intense heat from a house fire.
Neighbors said they could hear the explosions.
Neighbor Rene Lozano said, "It sounded like a car driving on a flat tire or something. Then I looked out the window and I saw the flames coming out."
A medical examiner has identified the three victims as 63-year-old Vicki Flanery, 96-year-old Charles Morton, and suspect David Flanery, police said.Â
Police said a husband, wife and her elderly father lived in the home, which was It was decorated for the holidays. There were wreaths outside and stockings hanging inside.
Police told KPRC 2  Acker was found dead in the garage apartment, Vicki Flanery was found dead in the house and David Flanery was found on the lawn.Â
Police said Flanery had suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Houston Fire Department spokesman Capt. Ruy Lozano said, "Initial units, when they got here, there was very heavy fire. Reports came out that flames were shooting about 50 feet in the air. So, it was a very aggressive fire. Because the bodies were found in different areas, it really leaves a lot to the investigative process."
Houston Police Department homicide officers believe the incident was a murder-suicide.
The investigation is continuing.
