1 injured after fire rips through Alvin apartment complex

ALVIN, Texas – One person was flown to a hospital Thursday after a fire broke out at an apartment complex in Alvin.

The fire was reported just before 9 a.m. at a complex in the 2400 block of South Highway 35 near Jephson Lane.

Heavy smoke and some flames could be seen pouring from the roof of the building as Sky 2 flew overhead. It appeared the second story of the structure was completely destroyed.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

It is unclear if anyone else was injured.

The road in the area was closed as firefighter worked to extinguish the flames. There is no estimated time when the road would reopen.
