It is likely that these probable cases will not be listed as confirmed because only symptoms occurred during the investigation timeframe.

Based on the patients' signs, symptoms and laboratory confirmation, the believed timeframe for this E. coli outbreak is April 15, through April 22.

At this time, the investigation continues with no updates on a possible source.

BCHD recommends that any person who has signs or symptoms of STEC infection to seek medical care.

Symptoms include severe stomach cramps, watery diarrhea (which contains blood mucous), and vomiting.

Most people get better within five to seven days, but children under five and people over 65 are at risk of further complications.
