Stores open late Christmas Eve for last-minute shopping

Shoppers brave crowds at Memorial City Mall for last-minute items

HOUSTON – The mad holiday rush did not end Christmas Eve as shoppers braved the crowds at Memorial City Mall looking for last-minute items for Christmas.

People carried handfuls of bags and pushed carts full of goods out into the parking lots to load up their vehicles and rush home to their families.

"The family decided to come over to my house instead of me going to theirs or going out so we had to do that and get groceries as well," Sonja Seagrove said.

Rows and rows of parking spots were filled with cars in the lots outside the Target store at the Memorial City Mall on Christmas Eve.

"I don't like the parking. I hate finding parking. I hate the lines, so that's the only thing that stresses me out," said Frederick Waites.

Waites and his wife, Kimberly Waites, said they try to be strategic with their last-minute shopping.

"Rather than going store to store looking for the pricing, we just did the pricing online," Kimberly Waites said.

Target extended store hours to 11 p.m. Christmas Eve.
