HOUSTON – Over the next few weeks, thousands will stand in line to return some of the gifts they receive.
If you're headed to Target, don't procrastinate. Customers have only 30 days, instead of 45 days, to return most electronics. If a customer opened the item, Target may not take it back.
Sears has shortened its return period. Customers have until Jan. 24 to return items, except major appliances. A 15 percent restocking fee will be applied to items that were used or are missing accessories.
The deadline is the same at Best Buy for items purchased after Nov. 4.
For online purchases through Amazon, customers have until Jan. 31 to make returns, but customers could be hit with a restocking fee of up to 50 percent on some opened items.
Both Macy's and Kohl's do not have deadline for returns. The policy does not apply count furniture purchased at Macy's.
