Mayor Sylvester Turner asks Houstonians to aid Louisiana flood victims

HOUSTON – Mayor Sylvester Turner issued a call to action to help the thousands of flood victims in Louisiana.

Turner spoke to Mayor Kip Holden of East Baton Rouge Parish this week and recruited several faith leaders to open their churches as collection sites for essential items.

Houstonians can help by taking boxed, unsealed and shipment-ready items to any of the collection sites listed below.

This flood is the worst natural disaster to strike the United States since Hurricane Sandy four years ago. Red Cross officials estimate damages to hit more than $30 million.
