1 dead in crash caused by driver who ran red light in north Houston

HOUSTON – A person is dead after a crash caused by a suspect who ran a red light in north Houston Sunday.

The crash happened just before 3 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of Canino Road and Airline Drive.

Houston Police said a vehicle was headed eastbound on Canino Road when a suspect vehicle, traveling southbound on Airline Drive, ran a red light and t-boned the other vehicle.

Police said the person in the first vehicle was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. The vehicle then landed on top of him after he was ejected.

The suspect’s vehicle traveled to the opposite side of Airline Drive and struck another vehicle, causing a chain reaction which involved two other vehicles.

After the suspect vehicle stopped, the driver and passenger jumped out of the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.

Police said they do have a possible address of the driver and officers were heading there.
