3-year-old killed, 5 other kids injured after argument between married couple led to crash near downtown Houston

HOUSTON – A 3-year-old girl was killed Sunday night after an argument between a husband and wife led to a deadly crash near downtown Houston.

The crash happened on SH-288 near the 59 interchange around 11:50 p.m.

According to investigators, the wife was driving while the husband was in the passenger seat.

At some point during the argument, police said the husband, who was allegedly intoxicated, pulled on the steering wheel, causing his wife to lose control of the SUV. The SUV hit a wall and then flipped over, which made the toddler hit her head. She was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

HPD said five other kids were in the SUV at the time. They were all transported to the hospital where two of them are in critical condition and the other three are stable.

The woman, who is believed to be 29 years old, was transported to a hospital in stable condition. Her husband was not injured.

Charges in the crash have not been filed.
