Houston is behaving! Authorities report no looting incidents

HOUSTON – Anytime a disaster strikes, there’s always somebody looking to take advantage of another’s misfortune.

However, law enforcement agencies keeping a watchful eye on Houston and Harris County say they haven’t had any run-ins with looters.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez tells KPRC 2′s Gage Goulding that the department has not had any reports of looting in their jurisdiction.

Additionally, the Texas Department of Public Safety is also reporting zero looting incidents.

State troopers are assisting local law enforcement agencies who are dealing with calls related to the tornado and straight-line winds that moved through the region Thursday evening.

Looting is a felony in the State of Texas and could result in hefty fines and jail time for those convicted.
