UH edge, Seven Lakes grad David Ugwoegbu to attend Texans’ local prospect day

Defensive lineman played in East-West Shrine Bowl all-star game

HOUSTON – University of Houston defensive end David Ugwoegbu, an Oklahoma transfer and converted linebacker, is invited to the Texans’ local prospect day, per a league source.

The Seven Lakes graduate and Katy native played in the East-West Shrine Bowl all-star game.

At the NFL scouting combine, he had a 31 1/2 inch vertical leap and bench pressed 225 pounds 21 times.

Ugwoegbu (6-foot-4, 250 pounds) played in 12 games with seven starts for the Coogs and recorded 41 tackles, six for losses, three sacks, three pass breakups, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. He had a season-high seven tackles against the Texas Longhorns

For the Sooners, he had 212 tackles, 16 for lossesa, four sacks and a blocked punt He was an honorable-mention All-ig 12 selection.

A four-star recruit, he chose Oklahoma over scholarship offers from Alabama, Michigan and Texas A&M.

Texas A&M wide receiver Ainias Smith, Ft. Bend Dulles, is also invited to the Texans’ local prospect day. He is recovering well from a stress fracture of his shin that required surgery and will be cleared to run and participate in football activities in six weeks.

Texas A&M safety and team captain Demani Richardson (6-1, 215) was invited to Texans’ local prospect day, per a league source. Recorded 304 career tackles, 17 for losses, four interceptions and four forced fumbles.

Houston edge Nelson Ceaser (Ridge Point) is attending the Texans’local prospect day, per a league source. First-team All-Big 12 selection, Ceaser recorded a career-high 9 1/2 sacks to lead conference. He ranked eighth nationally with 0.86 sacks per game as he recorded a team-high 13 1/2 tackles for losses in 591 snaps and 11 starts. Ceaser had 34 pressures with 20 hurries last season and participated in the Senior Bowl all-star game.

University of Houston center and team captain Jack Freeman, a Hula Bowl Joe Roth award winner, to attend Texans’ local prospect day. Freeman was a Jason Witten Award semifinalist and an Allstate AFCA Goodworks Team nominee who was a 24-game starter over the past two seasons.

University of Houston safety-linebacker Hasaan Hypolite (5-11, 215) is participating in the Texans’ local prospect day, per a league source. Colorado transfer and team captain played slot corner, free safety and defensive line snaps, while recording 33 tackles last season for special-teams standout, all-academic selection.

University of Houston corner Malik Fleming, an East Carolina transfer, was invited to their local prospect day per a league source. He was also invited to the Atlanta Falcons’ local prospect day. In 11 games including nine starts played 282 snaps at slot corner; 140 at free safety; 133 in box; 118 at wide corner with 41 tackles, three interceptions, five pass breakups.

Missouri defensive lineman Joshua Landry is invited to the Texans’ local prospect day. The 6-foot-3, 287-pound Lamar graduate and Baylor football transfer recorded 32 tackles, 2 1/2 for losses last season. Two-time all-district selection at Lamar.

Wisconsin safety Travian Blaylock, an Atascosita graduate, has been invited to the Texans’ local prospect day.

Louisiana Tech safety Myles Heard, a Dulles graduate and Stephen F. Austin transfer, has been invited to the Texans’ local prospect day.

Heard (5-11, 201) had 88 tackles and no touchdown passes allowed last season.

Texas-San Antonio wide receiver Joshua Cephus, a Dekaney graduate, has been invited to the Texans’ local prospect day. He participated in the Hula Bowl all-star game where he met with the Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, Denver Broncos, Washington Commanders and several other NFL teams.

Memphis edge Jaylon Allen, an Atascosita graduated, has been invited to the Texans’ local prospect day. He has a visit with the Las Vegas Raiders. He bench pressed 225 pounds 26 times and had a 34-inch vertical and a 10-4 broad jump at his Pro Day.

Pitt tight end Malcolm Epps, a 6-foot-6, 255-pound Dekaney graduate, has been invited to the Texans’ local prospect day. A Texas transfer, Epps has 37 career receptions for 483 yards and seven touchdowns.

Tulane safety Kam Pedescleaux is invited to Texans and New Orleans Saints’ local prospect days. Highest career grade among draft eligible safeties was named Conference Safety of the Year, all-conference selection, All-American College Football Network. Twice named Louisiana Sports Writers Association Defensive Player of the Week. Career stats: 247 career tackles, 26 passes defended, three sacks, five interceptions, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries

Kansas State offensive lineman Christian Duffie (Summer Creek) is invited to the Texans and Chiefs’ local prospect days. Duffie (6-5, 300) started 41 of 49 career games and was named a second-team All-Big 12 academic selection.

Rice University offensive lineman Clay Servin (6-4, 300), a team captain who tied Shea Baker’s school record 54 starts and was invited to the Tropical Bowl, to attend the Texans’ local prospect day, per a league source.

Texans local prospect day included Tulane center Sincere Haynesworth (Pearland), per a league source. 6-foot-1, 310-pound lineman was on Outland, Rimington and Earl Campbell Tyler Rose watch lists and was a four-year starter.

Texas Longhorns offensive lineman Christian Jones (Cypress Woods, 6-6, 321) participated in the Texans local prospect day, per a league source. Honorable-mention All-Big 12 selection started 48 of 61 career games and was an all-academic selection.

Oklahoma offensive lineman McKade Mettauer (The Woodlands) participated in the Texans local prospect day, per a league source. Mettauer (6-4, 316) started 53 of 55 career games, and Cal transfer is a former honorable-mention All-Big 12 and All-Pac-12 selection.

Texas A&M-Kingsville defensive end Ezrah Thibodeaux invited to Texans’ local prospect day, per a league source. Recorded 50 tackles, eight for losses, 3 1/2 sacks last season, and finished with career 128 tackles, 19 1/2 tackles for losses and nine sacks.

Texas Southern running back LaDarius Owens invited to Texans’ local prospect day, per a league source. Manvel graduate participated in HBCU Legacy Bowl and rushed for 1,347 career yards with 11 touchdowns.
