Texans sign wide receiver Steven Sims to active roster, defensive tackle McTelvin Agim to practice squad

HOUSTON – The Texans promoted wide receiver and kick returner Steven Sims Jr. from the practice squad to the 53-man roster in advance of Saturday’s AFC divisional round playoff game against the Baltimore Ravens

The Travis graduate gets an active roster spot after wide receiver Noah Brown was placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury.

Sims has three catches for 25 yards this season and four punt returns for 49 yards and three kickoff returns for 71 yards.

Sims played collegiately at Kansas and signed with the Washington franchise after going undrafted.

He played last season for the Pittsburgh Steelers, catching 19 passes for 105 yards. He had 13 runs for 70 yards The 5-foot-9, 184-pound Travis High School graduate had a touchdown return as a rookie.

He returned 24 punts for a 5.5 average and averaged 25.5 yards per kickoff return last season for Pittsburgh. He has 78 career receptions for 704 yards and five touchdowns.

The Texans signed defensive tackle McTelvin Agim to the practice squad.

Agim, 26, is a former Arkansas standout from Texarkana, Texas.

The former Denver Broncos third-round draft pick has played for the Indianapolis Colts, too.

He has 12 career tackles, 1 1/2 sacks and two pass deflections
