Poor performance leaves Coog fans devastated

HOUSTON – On a day the University of Houston faithful were looking for destiny, instead found devastation.

The Cougars' 49-28 loss Saturday in its Conference USA Championship game against Southern Miss was a shocking end to and otherwise flawless regular season.

A record crowd packed Robertson Stadium and at times provided an electric atmosphere in the first half. That was before the Cougars allowed a 21 point third quarter by the Golden Eagles, sending many fans headed towards the exits.

The season isn't completely over, but hopes for a spot in the Sugar Bowl are all but gone. And no one knows that more that Cougar fans.
