John Cornyn defeats MJ Hegar to retain U.S. Senate seat

U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, has defeated Democratic challenger MJ Hegar.

With an estimated 63.9% of the votes counted and Cornyn in front by 1 percentage point, Decision Desk called the race for the incumbent, 49.3% to 48.3%.

Libertarian Kerry McKennon was getting 1.7%, while Green Party candidate David Collins was garnering 0.7%.
