KLEIN – Klein High School is making history by being selected to have Texas’ first Space Force JROTC unit, the school announced earlier this month.

The United States Air Force selected Klein High School, converting its existing Air Force JROTC unit to the new Space Force JROTC unit beginning in the fall of 2021. Only 10 schools across the nation were selected for this, with Klein being the only school in Texas.

“It is definitely an honor to be chosen to be one of 10 inaugural Space Force JROTC units,” said Lt. Colonel Timothy Lambert, senior aerospace science instructor at Klein High School, in a Wednesday news release from the school. “This shows that our cadets have represented the Air Force in such an outstanding manner that they entrust them to represent the new Space Force in the same way.”

There will be a ceremonial ribbon-cutting ceremony in the fall.
