Suspects posing as utility workers steal cash, jewelry from Harris County home

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Investigators are looking for two men who posed as utility workers to gain access and steal from a northwest Harris County home.

The incident occurred on the evening of July 23 in the 5300 block of Spanish Oak Drive. The suspects told the homeowner they were responding to a reported gas line issue and needed to inspect the home’s water. While one suspect distracted the homeowner, the other went upstairs and allegedly stole about $3,000 in cash and a jewelry box, authorities said. Both suspects then fled in a white pickup truck.

Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman says legitimate utility workers will have company identification and should never pressure you into allowing home entry. If a person is unsure, do not let them inside until verifying their identity with the utility company.
