Judge rules Daniel Wong may remain as appointed Fort Bend County judge

Daniel Wong will remain Fort Bend County’s appointed judge after a judge ruled Wednesday that he can continue serving.

Wong was appointed earlier this year after then-Fort Bend County Judge K.P. George was suspended from office following his felony conviction. George, who was originally elected as a Democrat before later switching parties, ultimately lost his reelection bid.

Wong’s appointment has faced legal challenges and political criticism, with opponents questioning whether he has the authority to continue serving.

Wong is also seeking to remain in the position through the November election. He will face Democratic candidate Dexter McCoy on the ballot.
