First responders, vendors stuck in traffic near Houston Stadium ahead of FIFA game

First responders and vendors reported being stuck for more than an hour on the feeder road near the South Loop and Fanin exit

HOUSTON – Houston-area first responders and event vendors reported major delays getting to Houston Stadium early Sunday morning as traffic backed up along the South Loop feeder road.

Many of the first responders and vendors stuck in traffic are assigned to work at the stadium grounds for Sunday’s FIFA World Cup game between Germany and Curaçao at noon.

A first responder working the event told KPRC 2 he had been stuck on the feeder for more than an hour at the Fanin exit.

Houston police said a minor crash involving two vehicles at was reported by Gate 6 of the stadium grounds, causing significant delays. Police said the officer assigned to respond was delayed by a passing train and arrived at 6:51 a.m.
