Pedestrian hit, killed while trying to cross the South Loop at Golfcrest

HOUSTON – A pedestrian is dead after being hit by a vehicle while trying to cross the South Loop on Tuesday morning.

The incident happened on the South Loop East at Golfrest Boulevard around midnight.

Houston police said the pedestrian was attempting to cross the highway. They also said the driver attempted to swerve and avoid hitting the pedestrian, but was unable to do so.

The driver is not expected to face any charges.

The highway was shut down for multiple hours, opening just before 5 a.m.
