2 teens hospitalized after accidental discharge of pistol at Third Ward apartment

HOUSTON – Two teenagers have been taken to a hospital after authorities say a gun being handled by one of the teenagers went off, striking both of them.

Houston Police say it happened at an apartment complex located in the 3300 block of Winbern Street around 8:45 p.m.

Police and other first responders arrived at the scene and found the two teenagers, an 18-year-old and an 14-year-old, with gunshot wounds.

They were told the two teenagers were hanging out with friends at the apartment when the 18-year-old accidentally fired the pistol.

The round went into his arm and out the other side where it grazed the 14-year-old’s neck before going into the wall of the apartment.

Right now, police are still investigating the incident, but said both teenagers have non-life threatening injuries and are expected to be okay.
