Firefighter airlifted after being injured by fan during routine check at station in The Woodlands

A firefighter in The Woodlands was seriously injured Thursday morning after coming into contact with an overhead ventilation fan during routine checks at Fire Station 7.
According to The Woodlands Township, Firefighter John Rigoni was seriously hurt around 6:55 a.m. Thursday, June 26, while performing a routine apparatus check at Station 7, located in the 26700 block of Kuykendahl Road.
Officials say Rigoni came into contact with the station’s overhead ventilation fan during the inspection, resulting in significant injuries.
He was treated immediately by fellow firefighters and Harris County ESD 11 Medic 407, before being airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in the Texas Medical Center.
Rigoni’s condition is currently listed as serious but stable.
No further details about the firefighter’s condition have been released.
