HOUSTON – Police are trying to figure out how a fight between neighbors in southeast Houston escalated into a deadly shooting.

It happened a little before 2:30 a.m. when investigators say an unidentified man, approximately in his 60s, called 911 to tell them he shot his neighbor over on Des Jardines off the Gulf Freeway.
Preliminary information shared by Lt. Horelica with the Houston Police Department is that the man told police he got into an argument with a neighbor and shot him after claiming the neighbor started to damage his property.

Emergency officials at the scene said that the neighbor died from his injuries.
The man who called 911 was detained at the scene and is cooperating with police, but it’s unclear if any charges will be filed.
