Man shot, killed in NE Houston after disturbance outside vehicle

A deadly shooting investigation is underway in northeast Houston after officers found a man shot and killed outside his vehicle early Monday morning

Police responded to the scene at 8700 block of Leycrest Road, near Mesa Drive and Ley Road, just before 4 a.m.

Officers arrived and found a man dead from a gunshot outside his vehicle, which was later discovered crashed in a nearby ditch.

Investigators say the victim was involved in a disturbance before the shooting happened. It is unclear whether the suspect fled the scene on foot or in a vehicle.

At this time, authorities are reviewing nearby surveillance footage to gather more information about the incident.
