ShotSpotter activation leads Houston Police to gunshot victim in NW Houston

HOUSTON – Police responding to a ShotSpotter activation found a man suffering from a gunshot wound in northwest Houston Sunday.
HPD says it happened in the 3700 block of Watonga Blvd., between Mangum Road and Lamonte Lane around 8:15 p.m. Sunday.
ShotSpotter is a piece of technology used to detect gunfire. It then dispatches police to the location the gunfire was detected.
As units were responding to the activation, a call came in about someone suffering from a gunshot wound.
Police arrived and found the man suffering from the gunshot wound. He was taken to Ben Taub Hospital. He is reportedly in critical condition.
A man has been taken into custody in connection to the shooting.
