Second suspect arrested in shooting that injured Texans’ WR Tank Dell

A second perpetrator has been arrested for firing a weapon during the altercation that injured Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell.

Chase Gavin Gillespie, 20, was identified by Seminole County deputies as the second shooter in the altercation.

The shooting occurred in the early morning hours on April 28 at Cabana Live in Sanford, an area not too far from Dell’s hometown of Daytona Beach. There were around 200 people at the event venue, which was promoted as “No One Leaves Sober.” Shortly after deputies arrived to address the large capacity of the event, they heard gunshots.

Nine people were treated for injuries related to the shooting, including Dell who was struck in the leg.

Deputies were able to apprehend one of the suspected shooters at the scene, 16-year-old Christopher Bouie. The second shooter remained unidentified until Gillespie was arrested Thursday.

The bullet went through the back of Dell’s leg and came out the front, but there was no structural or permanent damage. In the last month, Dell has made a full recovery and returned to the practice field ahead of his sophomore campaign.

Dell made an early splash in his rookie year, tallying over 700 receiving yards and seven touchdowns in his 11 appearances.
