Mattress Mack giving away more than 200 mattresses amid Houston windstorm recovery efforts

HOUSTON – Houston icon Jim ‘Mattress Mack’ McIngvale is once again showing love for the city by stepping up during storm recovery efforts by giving away hundreds of mattresses to affected residents.

The legendary furniture store mogul has always been known for acts of kindness during natural disasters in Houston. At the Gallery Furniture in north Houston, Mack is giving away more than 200 Tempur Pedic and Sealy mattresses for families impacted by the intense weather we experienced last week.

Based on a press release, Gallery Furniture explained how restless this past week has been for Houston and hoped this act of kindness will help provide some comfort.

“In the wake of the devastating floods and tornados, many Houstonians are grappling with the loss of their homes and belongings,” the statement reads. “For these families, a good night’s sleep on a brand new mattress can symbolize a step towards rebuilding their lives.”

The distribution takes place Friday, May 24 from 7 a.m. - 9 p.m. or until supplies last at their North Freeway location.

To be eligible for the giveaway, you must meet the following conditions:

• Each household is eligible to receive one mattress
• Recipients must have been impacted by the recent floods
• Recipients must bring a valid driver’s license that shows they live in one of the eligible zip codes listed below
• Mattress distribution will be on a first-come, first-served basis
