The suspect, identified as Chambers County resident Jim Martin, got into an argument with an individual over stolen property, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Martin then struck the person with a garden tool, and the confrontation escalated and Martin fired a gun in the victim’s direction. but didn’t hit them.
Marin was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is currently awaiting arraignment at Chambers County Jail.
“The area is safe, and no suspects are at large. The Chambers County Sheriff’s Office will continue to be diligent in keeping the community safe and secure,” Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne said.
