3-year-old dies in hit-and-run crash involving Uber in north Houston

Houston – The 3-year-old girl injured in a hit-and-run crash on March 3 has died, police say.

The crash took place off the North Freeway near West Road in North Houston.

Investigators said an Uber driver in a Toyota Sienna was traveling with three passengers, a man, a woman, and their baby when they crashed with a white Ford F-350 pickup truck. It is believed the driver of the truck hit the minivan from behind and took off.

The Uber driver then reportedly followed the Ford F-350 down the road which caused another crash moments later.

The child and her father were both initially hurt in the crash. After being taken to a local emergency room, the baby was rushed to Texas Children’s Hospital.

The driver of the truck left the scene but was stopped by witnesses. He reportedly showed signs of intoxication.

The child was pronounced dead on Monday.
