19-year-old in fair condition after shooting in Galveston

GALVESTON, Texas – A 19-year-old is reportedly in fair condition after being shot Friday night in Galveston.

The Galveston Police Department said it happened around 11:35 p.m. in the 7400 block of Jones Drive.

Callers reported to police that a 19-year-old man had been shot and left the scene after approaching a vehicle asking for assistance.

The vehicle, along with the shooting victim, were on the way to The University of Texas Medical Branch emergency room when they were located by police near 61st Street.

At that time the victim was transported to UTMB via Galveston EMS with a police escort, where he is reported to be in fair condition.

No arrests or charges have been filed at this time and it is still an active investigation, according to police.
