Woman shoots estranged common-law husband as he was attempting to break into her home, HCSO says

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A woman reportedly shot and killed her estranged common-law husband as he was attempting to break into her home in a Humble neighborhood early Tuesday morning.

The shooting took place at the home in the 3700 block of Woodlace Drive.

According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the deceased man arrived at the home and went to the back where he kicked in the door and attempted to come inside.

At some point during the break-in, the woman opened fire and shot the man.

The man, 39, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators found the victim was armed with a handgun at the time of the incident. Gonzalez said that several police reports have been made regarding an ongoing situation at that residence.

The shooter is being cooperative with investigators and no charges are expected to be filed at this time.
