City of Houston’s 2024 inauguration

HOUSTON – Several major elected officials in Houston took office during the city’s 2024 Inauguration ceremony Tuesday.
John Whitmire took the oath of office and is now the city’s 63rd mayor. Other elected officials were also inaugurated.
The inauguration took place at the Wortham Theater Center.
The list of Inauguration ceremonies went as follows: Mayor-elect John Whitmire was inaugurated as Houston’s 63rd mayor in a private ceremony with his family.
Whitmire made this transition overnight at a ceremony at Houston’s City Hall at 12:01 a.m. on Jan. 1.
After the ceremony, Whitmire immediately started working with Houston Police Chief Troy Finner and discussed what issues the city faces on the streets.
