Crews got to the scene a little after 8:30 p.m. and saw fire coming from the roof of the apartment building.

District Chief Chrystal Koeppen said crews had trouble establishing a water line and more units were brought in to help.

One firefighter was injured and was taken to the hospital to be checked out. He is expected to be ok.

No one else was injured and all occupants of the apartments got out safely.

12 units were damaged in the fire. The roof was burned off upper units and some lower units have water damage.

The fire is now out and crews are monitoring for any hot spots.

The Red Cross and apartment maintenance have responded to help residents who were displaced.
