Gov. Abbott signs border security bills into law

BROWNSVILLE, Texas – Gov. Greg Abbott signed Senate Bill 3 and Senate Bill 4 into law on Monday, which are related to border security.

The governor held a news conference while he signed the new legislation.

SB 3 allocates $1.5 million to continue building barriers at the Texas-Mexico border. SB 4 makes it illegal in Texas to cross the border between ports of entry and allows police to arrest people who break this law, according to The Texas Tribune.

It also requires judges to order migrants to be sent back to Mexico.
