3 teens hospitalized after drive-by shooting in NE Houston

HOUSTON – Three teenagers were hospitalized after a drive-by shooting in northeast Houston Friday morning.

Houston police responded to reports of a shooting in the 9100 block of Spaulding Street near Firnat at around 1:45 a.m.

Police said the three teenagers were inside of a car, driving erratically. At some point, another driver, who was in a black sedan, pulled up to the car and started shooting at the teens.

The driver, who was 14 years old, was shot and two other passengers inside, ages 16 and 15, were also shot. Another 15-year-old was inside the vehicle, but was not injured.

HPD’s Lt. Willkens said the 14-year-old driver jumped out of the car and was transported to the hospital by a private vehicle.

The other injured victims drove to their homes on Bywood where police were later called.

Willkens said he believes all of the teens will survive their injuries.

Police did not have any information about a possible suspect.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Houston Police Department at (713) 884-3131.
