HOUSTON – A teenager is dead after a shooting in south Houston Friday.

According to the Houston Police Department, the incident happened in the 3800 block of Faulkner Street. Police were called just before 2 p.m.

Lt. Larry Crowson with HPD said the 14-year-old boy was taken to the hospital where he died.

“There were several young males in the apartment here, there was some kind of a manipulation of a handgun, we are not sure if it was accidental or intentional at this point,” Crowson said.

Crowson said while the people were handling the gun, the gun was fired, striking the teenager at least one time.

Several people were detained at the scene in connection to the incident.
