Houston police are searching for a suspect and his vehicle responsible for a woman's murder last month in Houston's Fifth Ward (Houston Police Department)

HOUSTON – Houston police released surveillance video of a man wanted for allegedly killing a woman in Houston’s Fifth Ward on Sept. 10.

The victim, identified as 28-year-old Merterian Joseph, died at a hospital after police said a man shot her while she was inside her vehicle.

Video obtained by police showed a man, who was seen driving a silver or gray 2011-2013 Honda Civic pulling onto an alleyway. Another vehicle, driven by Joseph, was seen driving slowly in the opposite direction.

The vehicle stopped, and the suspect, seen wearing a white T-shirt, ran toward Joseph’s vehicle, video showed. At some point, shots were fired by the alleged suspect.

The suspect took off.

Officers arrived at the scene sometime later and found paramedics providing aid to the woman after suffering multiple gunshot wounds while inside her vehicle. She was rushed to an area hospital where she later died, police said.

It is unknown at this time if the suspect and Joseph knew one another.

Anyone with information in this case is asked to call HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
