Investigators with the HCSO Vehicular Crimes Division said they believe the victim was sitting or standing on the west embankment of Mason Creek Drive around 12:35 a.m. when a 2016 Ford Edge left the roadway and reportedly “traveled over him in the air.”

The pedestrian was hit by the Ford before it came to a full stop in the east embankment, Gonzalez said.

Authorities say the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of that Ford was said to have been a 21-year-olf woman who had to be taken to the hospital by LifeFlight for her injuries following the crash.

Gonzalez said the suspect is believed to have been driving while intoxicated.
