Gonzalez says deputies were called to the scene around 4:45 a.m. and when they arrived, they reportedly found 18-year-old Messiah Brooks unresponsive in the roadway.

According to officials, two of Brooks’ friends were standing near a silver 4-door Honda when deputies arrived.

Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene.

Upon further investigation, a second victim, who had also been shot, was found nearby.

That victim was transported to the hospital and is said to be in fair condition.

Investigators say that the group both victims were part of was at the subdivision to fight another man who lived in the area.

According to Gonzalez, the victims and the suspects began fighting in the middle of the intersection.

Moments after the fight ended, the suspect allegedly pulled out his gun, and fired into the Honda multiple times, hitting both victims with gunfire.

The suspect immediately fled the scene. He is described as a Black man, about 18 to 20 years old, with a light-skin complexion and locs.
