When deputies arrived at the scene, they located a woman, who was identified as Nelaine Valazco-Castellano, 21, laying in the foyer of the residence with stab wounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS, deputies said.

According to people that live at the residence, they did not witness the stabbing but heard the husband, who was identified as Leonardo Pimentel-Lopez, 27, asking for a charger before it happened. At some point after, deputies said Lopez stabbed Valazco-Castellano and fled the scene on foot.

Sheriff Ed Gonzalez described the suspect as 5 feet and 150 pounds. He has slicked-back hair, a tattoo on at least one arm, and was last seen wearing a black flora shirt and green camouflage pants at the time that he fled the scene, deputies said.

At the time of the incident, deputies said there were five other adults and a 7-year-old child inside the home. None of them were injured during the incident, HCSO said.

It was reported that the couple was temporarily staying at the residence until they could get on their feet.

Homicide investigators have charged Pimentel-Lopez with murder. Investigators urge anyone with information on the suspect’s whereabouts to contact the HCSO Homicide Unit at 713-274-9100. If he is seen, deputies said do not approach him but contact your local authorities at 9-1-1.
