HOUSTON – A Houston woman has been charged with three counts of child endangerment after she reportedly left her small children home alone for hours.

According to officials from the Houston Police Department, neighbors in an apartment complex located in the 10160 block of Westpark Drive reported hearing suspicious noises in an upstairs unit on March 14 around 5:15 a.m.

When witnesses knocked on the apartment door, they said three small children were inside with no adult supervision.

Authorities say the mother, Kelly Pete, arrived back at the complex three hours later. She initially said told police that she was at the grocery store before admitting that was a lie.

The children, ages 6, 3, and 2, were placed in Child Protective Services.
