HOUSTON – A suspect is in custody after police say they barricaded themselves in a location in northeast Houston following what’s believed to be an assault incident.

At approximately 5:30 a.m. Friday, officers with the Houston Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 100 block of Pennsylvania Street in response to a report of an assault.

The reportee told officers her son assaulted her and her husband before fleeing the home, according to SWAT Cmdr. M. Howard.

When paramedics arrived on scene, they found the man was unconscious and wasn’t breathing. They performed live-saving measures and transported him to an area hospital in serious condition, said Howard.

Officers found the suspect barricaded inside his residence across the street. SWAT was called to the scene and after several hours the man surrendered.

The man was charged with two counts of aggravated assault and transported to the Harris County Joint Processing Center.
