10 rescued, 2 detained in possible human smuggling situation in SW Houston, HPD says

HOUSTON – The Houston Police Department is investigating a humans smuggling situation Wednesday in southwest Houston, according to authorities.

Officers responded to a call about human smuggling around 3:12 p.m. in the 7000 block of Bissonnet Street.

Poice said there are a total of 10 victims were rescued, two women and eight men. Police also said two suspects were detained at the scene.

Office of Public Affairs, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement released the following statement:

“Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) Houston is on the scene investigating suspected human smuggling. However, that is all we can release at this time due to an ongoing criminal investigation.”
